Top Ten Cars With Global NCAP Ratings in India

A growing number of people have begun to buy cars in India. While selecting the car model, there are various points to keep in mind such as fuel type, affordability, body type, engine type, transmission, maintenance, resale value, comfort while buying a car. The most important feature should be safety. One must ensure to buy a car with safety features and should have a Global NCAP rating. Let us understand these ratings and look into the ten cars with a Global NCAP rating in India.

New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP)

Global NCAP or GNCAP is an international body that checks the safety of cars. There are various branches of NCAP across the world. For instance, ASEAN NCAP is for southeast Asian countries and ANCAP is for Australia and Euro NCAP is for Europe. The main purpose is to check the durability of a car during and after a crash. They conduct crash tests such as:

● Front-impact test

● Side impact test

● Tests for seatbelts

● Tests for pedestrian safety

● Electronic stability control tests

● Tests for autonomous emergency braking systems

During a crash test they use dummies to check the impact of injuries, the efficiency of airbags, placement of airbags and they also use specific parameters to determine the safety of a child occupant. If these safety standards are not met, the car is considered to have a high risk of injury. While a car with a four-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) or seatbelt reminders are awarded bonus points, a car that does not meet minimum safety requirements is given no stars.

It is important to note that the rating of the cars is not everything since cars are judged based on various categories and each test is modified based on the category and the type of the vehicle. These NCAP ratings help consumers to keep the safety of themselves in mind and choose wisely.
