Main Exclusions
Given below is a partial listing of exclusions. For complete details, please read policy terms & conditions available in the downloads section)

  • Benefits will not be available for any pre-existing condition(s), until 48 consecutive months of continuous coverage have elapsed, since inception of the first policy with this insurer.
  • Any illness diagnosed or diagnosable within 30 days of the effective date of the policy period if this is the first individual Hospital Cash benefit policy with Chola MS. If you renew the hospital cash benefit policy with the Chola MS, this waiting period of 30 days is however is not applicable. In case of change of plan on renewal, this exclusion will apply in relation to the amount by which the daily benefit limit has been increased due to change of plan.
  • The following diseases are excluded during the first and second year of policy inception.
Illnesses excluded for One year Illnesses excluded for Two years
Cataract, Benign Prostratic Hypertropy, Hysterectomy for Menorrhagia or Fibromyoma, Hernia, Hydrocele, Fistula, Piles, Sinusitis & related disorders, Gall stones. Spondilitis, Spondilosis, Knee / Hip joint replacement, Internal congenital diseases , Osteoarthritis of any joint, Calculus diseases of gall bladder and urogenital, Gastric & duodenal ulcers, Internal Tumours, cysts, nodules, polyps including breast lumps (each of any kind unless malignant), Gout & Rheumatism, ENT disorders & Surgery, Surgery of genito urinary system, Surgery for prolapsed inter vertebral disk, Surgery of varicose veins & varicose ulcers, Surgery on tonsils

If these diseases are pre-existing at the time of proposal, the same will be considered under the policy as per general exclusion number 1 above.

Mr. S S Gopalarathnam is the Managing Director of Cholamandalam MS General Insurance Company Limited (Chola MS).

He joined the Murugappa Group in 1979 as a Management Trainee and has been with the group for the past 30 years. Mr. Gopalarathnam has been with Chola MS as Chief Financial Officer since its inception, became President Operations in 2006 and took over as Managing Director and CEO in April 2008.

A graduate of commerce and a qualified FICWA from the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India, he has extensive training in the areas of strategy, finance and leadership.He has also recently undergone an Advanced Management Program at Harvard University, USA.

He was an active member of IRDA's Working Group responsible for revamping investment regulations in India, and a member of the Committee to revamp Motor Pool in India.


Critical illness cover is an insurance, which pays you a lump sum of money if you are diagnosed as having one of the critical illnesses covered under the policy. It would give you the security of knowing that a guaranteed cash sum will be paid if the unexpected happens.
